The first project ever established by Trees for All involves the protection of 16,000 hectares of rainforest on the island of Borneo . In addition, at least 100 hectares of forest is regenerated on an annual basis. Without protection, this original area of rainforest would be seriously damaged by illegal logging or legal felling of trees to make way for oil palm plantations. Trees for Travel is educating the local people the importance of rainforest protection and CO2 absorption. In fact, this project is a blueprint for such projects to generate income from the replanting of forests in developing countries.

The next step is to include sustainable energy projects that convey demonstrable reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. As such, Trees for Travel is launching partnership projects where sustainable energy use and energy saving policies play a crucial role. Examples of these include biogas installations and more efficient wood burning ovens.
