Why are there no laws concerning flight travel sourced greenhouse gas emissions?
The
Kyoto
protocol does not include any obligations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions resulting from international travel (by both air and sea), because these emissions are not country specific. The airline sector has been asked to prepare proposals that limit greenhouse gas emissions; however, no definite steps have been taken. The opinion of Trees for Travel is that it is best to put pressure on the airline sector by showing that their very own customers believe that climate change is an important issue and something need to be done about it.
