Is there enough space for forestry projects?
Worldwide, there is about 2 billion hectares of land that is suitable for the planting of forests. A forest of this size would absorb approximately 75 125 gigatonnes of CO2; equal to the worldwide CO2 emissions for the next 15 25 years. While those 2 billion hectares cannot be replanted in a single year, doing nothing will not solve anything. If those forests were planted, not only would the Earth would be as green as it was 200 years ago, but it would give us time to develop and put sustainable energy sources into place.
